Wajapani in Kenya:ケニアの日本人

ケニアで、いやアフリカで日々生活されている日本人の皆さんなら必ず一度は経験したはずでしょう。
I guess every single person, who is living in Africa has experienced at least once.

町を歩いていると、中国人と間違われる。
Africans recognise us as Chinese at first contact.

”おい、チャイニーズ！” "Hey, Chinese!"
”おい、ブルースリー！” "Hey. Blues Lee!"
”おい、チンチョンチャン!”"Hey, Ching Chong Chang!"
”おい、チンチェン！”"Hey, Ching Cheng!"

別に中国人と間違えられる事に問題はない。
I do not care they see me as Chinese.

私だってアフリカ人を見て、どの国、どの部族など見分けられない。
Because it same to me who is not able to say which country and which tribe they are from.

日本人、中国人、韓国人がそれぞれ似ているのも事実。
ただ、アフリカの人の生活に中国が溢れているからであろう。
靴、服、電化製品、バイク、生活雑貨、人などなど。
It is also undeniable truth that Japanese, Chinese and Korean, we all share similar ficial features.
It is simply because "Made-in-China" is all around in their daily lives in Africa.

と、今までは初対面の人には“兄ちゃん中国人か、それとも日本人？”と聞かれることが多かった。
So, it always happens to me to be asked  "Are you Chinese or Japanese?" by those who I met him/her for the first time.

しかし、ここ数日、初対面のケニア人の私に対する反応に変化が見られる。
However, I notice the reaction that Kenyas show when they see me is slightly changing nowadays.

マタツ（乗り合いタクシー）でも、市場でも、商店街でも、
In matatu, market, and shopping area, they ask me,

”兄ちゃんは中国人か、それともインド人？”
"Are you Chinese or Indian?"

”。。。。。”

私の日焼けレベルもついに東アジア級を超え、中央アジア級に突入した模様。
It seems that suntan level of mine has at last gone beyond the East-Asian level, and entered Central-Asia level.

1年半後には何級になっているんだろうか？
I wonder after one year and half, which level will I be.
